Mr. Lay,
Thank you for attempting to answer my query even though you still seem =
to misunderstand my request. You website indicates you have an EE =
background which confuses me somewhat in that I would expect you would =
grasp what it is that I have asked about.
I realize full well that an RF dummy load designed to take 50 amps of RF =
current will require a high wattage rating. Even if that is what I =
wanted, which it isnt, why the hostility in replies to my request? =
That is not what I need and is why I mentioned "two in one".
Imagine sir a 5 gallon bucket with a coaxial connector on the lid, =
perhaps on that same lid could be a pair of contacts to attach power =
leads. Inside this container could be the RF load and also a load =
capable of handling 50 amps separate from each other yet sharing the =
same container of oil. The bucket of oil analogy is only to illustrate =
my point in describing what it is I am trying to make and I understand =
the oil may or may not be the way to go. Would be quite simple actually =
to rig up an ethylene glycol system to cool the loads not too much =
unlike the system I have for my Klystrons.=20
The 125k load your calculator indicates I need is not quite correct. If =
I were only dealing with 12vdc "ham" type supplies a separate vdc load =
would not be even necessary. Use an amp and radio as the load on the =
supply and feed the rf into the dummy load. This is the method I =
currently use now anyway and for its limited applications it works quite =
well. 1,000,000 candlepower "Q-beam" spotlights are an easy source of a =
vdc load too. 50 amps of RF is not what I would ever think I would =
need to deal with yet if the case were to come up then no problem. Is =
very different than the amount of RF generated by a 50 amp load on a =
power supply. Perhaps I did not make the specifics of what I am looking =
for clear enough. If thats the case I apologize and am sorry for the =
confusion. Heavy duty resistors and other supplies are not a problem =
either. I have enough junk laying around the shack to make just about =
anything I may need.

thank you and have a good day,
73
chad
