Walbridge K1IGD Silent Key

It is with sadness we announce the passing of QCWA Life Member #24804, 
Charles Walbridge K1IGD, on November 23, 2020 at the age of 85.

Chuck served on the QCWA Board as Secretary from 1997 to 2003 and on 
December 17, 2003 he became the General Manager. He served in this 
position until March 2012.

Walbridge was first licensed in 1952 as WNØLFX and later WØLFX. While in 
High school he worked at Leo Meyerson's *World Radio Labs* in Council 
Bluffs, Iowa. Chuck graduated from Iowa State College with a BSEE in 
1957 and moved to New England and changed his call to K1IGD. His 
engineering career spanned 34 years working for Raytheon and Sylvania 
(later GTE/Government Systems) as a designer and manager on a variety of 
government communications systems.

Walbridge held an Extra class license and enjoyed the keyboard modes on 
HF and VHF. He was Secretary/Treasurer of Yankee Chapter 112 and edited 
the chapter newsletter, maintained the chapter Web page and also edited 
the newsletter for the Pioneer Chapter 183. He was  also a member of 
TAPR, OOTC and the ARRL.
