January 2, 2019

We have now turned the calendar to a new year. Many of our members
will qualify for anniversary awards, beginning with 50 years as a
licensed Amateur Radio operator.

Now would be a good time to check your chapter membership records to
see which of your chapter members qualify for an award.

This is very easy to do. Just log in to the Members Only Webpage and
under "Officer's Section", (then on the left side menu) click on to
"Member Awards".

Once you have done this, you will find a few options. The option you
want to use is the one outlined below;

To create chapter member digital awards for 50, 55, 60 or 65 year
Anniversaries view details here

After clicking on to "view details here", you will be taken to the
below message.

After the webpage opens, change the members name if necessary, and
click on one of the buttons to generate that award for the selected
member. The web server (www.qcwa.org) will create the award as a PDF
file and open it in Adobe on your computer. You can save a copy to
your computer and/or print a copy. Photo paper works well as do many
of the colored, wood grain or antiqued papers that are available in
many hobby and scrapbook stores.
To create the awards click

On the right side this shows all of the chapter member's awards,
which they have received, along with the issue date, and all the
awards that each chapter member qualifies for this year, and have yet
to be issued. Note: Some members may have already downloaded and
printed their awards. If this is the case, you may wish to ask them
to bring to the next meeting for presentation in front of their peers.

Just follow the instructions, and then download and print for your
members for presentation at your next Chapter meeting. Your chapter
may wish to spend a few dollars for a nice inexpensive frame, or
maybe just a simple presentation folder, which also looks nice.

If the award is of great significance, i.e a 75 year or more award,
the chapter just may wish to spend a little more money on a plaque
for the honored QCWA Chapter Member.

Happy New Year to all!

73,
Ken Oelke, VE6AFO
President, Quarter Century Wireless Association, Inc.
