QCWA Bulletin 2018-0010 - QCWA Migrates From PayPal To New eCommerce Store
Over the past several months QCWA members have been experiencing
difficulties with PayPal taking their credit card information when
either joining or renewing their membership in QCWA.
Effectively immediately all QCWA membership 'new' and 'renewals' will
be going through to our new eCommerce store and payment method. The
server has a SSL security certificate, which makes your payment via
credit or debit card completely secure.
From the QCWA Home page www.qcwa.org click on to 'join/renew' to
join or renew your membership.

https://www.member-supplies-qcwa.com/product-p/membershiponline.htm
As well, our Member Supplies is now on the eCommerce store, which
will make ordering supplies that much easier.
https://www.member-supplies-qcwa.com/category-s/136.htm
For our members who do not live in the USA, the Member Supplies page
is still on the old system until we can figure out shipping costs to
different parts of the world in the new eCommerce store. You will
have to request shipping costs from our Office Manager for most of
our merchandise, other than caps and shirts, which go directly to
Gold Medal Ideas.
We thank our members for your patience for the inconvenience you have
experienced in the past.

Good Morning,
?
I've added a feature to the Chapter Officer's Section of the Members Only web page accessible from a button labeled "QCWA Connect"
?
It allows a Chapter Officer to send an email to the Chapter Officers or to All Active Chapter Members.
?
This means you no longer need to have all those addresses in your email client, or keep them up to date.
?

QCWA Bulletin 2018-010 - Walter (Walt) Rudolph Supina, N3WS - Silent Key
It is with sadness we report the passing of QCWA #30,909 Walter
(Walt) Supina, N3WS of Redington, FL on September 20, 2018 at the age of 87.
First licensed in 1976 as WN3BSI; was active in the QCWA Pelican
Chapter 128, and editor of the chapter newsletter.
Supina was born in Hartford, CT and passed away at Juniper Village at
Brookline, surrounded by his family. He spent his youth on Long
Island, Southern New Jersey and Bucks County, PA, graduating from
Council Rock High School in 1949. He earned a Bachelor of Science
degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State in 1953, and then went
to work for DuPont in Victoria, TX.
My QCWA life membership number 30909 is an indication that I am
relatively new to QCWA as I was Two years ago I was elected to the
position of Secretary of the chapter.
Walter married Aura Lee Tyrrell on August 18, 1956 in Philadelphia.
That year they moved to State College where he began graduate work in
Chemical Engineering at Penn State receiving his Masters' degree in
1957 and his PhD in 1960. Walter then went to work at Applied Science
Labs in State College. In 1966, he and Nicholas Pelick founded
Supelco, Inc. in Bellefonte growing it into a prominent company in
the field of Chromatography.
Supina retired in early 1990 and he and Aura Lee began wintering in
Redington Beach, FL. He received the Outstanding Engineering Alumni
Award from Penn State in 1989, and served on the Penn State Alumni
Council. A very generous person, Walter personally helped people in
need, established scholarships and fellowships at Penn State and
contributed to a number of charities and organizations, asking for
little or no recognition.
In addition to being an accomplished chemist and business owner,
Walter had various hobbies and passions. He was a long time Ham Radio
Operator at the Expert Level, a member of the Nittany Amateur Radio
Club and QCWA. He was an avid painter and master gardener, and
enjoyed fly fishing trips to the Rocky Mountains.
