QCWA Bulletin 2014-030 - QCWA Board Elects New Treasurer Charles Tropp, N2SO

The QCWA Board of Directors are pleased to report the election of 
QCWA Member Charles Tropp, N2SO as Treasurer, filling the vacancy of 
past treasurer Mort Cohen, WA2ARS (SK). Tropp became QCWA member # 
34635 on January 20, 2009.

Tropp was born in Lyon, France and came to the United States with his 
family in 1950, and was raised in Rock Island, IL. Tropp received his 
BA from University of Illinois in 1965, his JD from New York 
University School of Law in 1968, and was admitted to the New York 
State Bar later that year. After several years working for the New 
York City Corporation Counsel, in their excise tax division, Tropp 
went into private law practice opening an office on Staten Island. He 
specialized in consumer bankruptcy and creditors' rights.

Tropp was first licensed as KA2AHA in 1978 and later upgraded to 
General Class in 1981 as N2CDV. After going inactive in 1986, he 
later upgraded to Extra Class in 2009. Since then he has been back on 
the air enjoying DXing and contesting using CW on the HF bands. He 
likes to use his Czech Military straight key and is active in SKCC 
(Straight Key Century Club) activities and events.

Tropp is a member of QCWA Chapter 46 (Founder's Club), Chapter 181 
(Hudson Valley Chapter), as well as CONEX (Council of Northeast 
Chapters of QCWA), and in June 2014 he was elected Director of Chapter 181.

Tropp is married to Carol and have three daughters and 7 grand-children.
