QCWA Bulletin 2014-028 - QCWA Treasurer Mort Cohen, WA2ARS - Silent Key

It is with sadness QCWA reports that QCWA Treasurer Mort Cohen, 
WA2ARS, passed away on October 11th, 2014, and burial was at the 
Florida National Cemetery, Bushnel, FL, on October 14th. He was 81.

First licensed in 1958, Cohen was elected to the QCWA National Board 
in October 2012, and served as QCWA National Treasurer up until his 
death. He received the QCWA Presidential Award in 2005 and 2008.

Cohen retired from the New York City Police Department in 1982 and 
moved to Florida in 1985. He joined QCWA in 1983 and was very active 
in QCWA Citrus Chapter 45. Along with his wife of 57 years, Roberta 
Cohen, WA2FRW, they both assisted in organizing HamCation from 2005 
to 2010. Cohen was also active in 1988 and served as president of the 
Lake Monroe Amateur Radio Club in Winter Springs, FL and treasurer of 
the Orlando Amateur Radio Club.
