Hello Everyone,
I want to bring something to your attention that MAY require some
action on the local chapter level.
With the changes that we are making, we are getting MANY renewals from
members who have not paid their dues for many years, including one who
had not paid since 1982. Of course that is a very good thing, and a
sign that they are liking the changes we are making. Of course we are
also getting renewals from members that are basically current,
renewing just before their membership expires.
But with these renewals I have seen something that is different -- in
a good way. Many of these members did not a list a chapter
affiliation in the past. Now they are. So as I process their
membership, I add the chapter to the data base, which then is
reflected on the list of chapter members on your member web page.
Here is where we need your help. I have no idea if these people have
already contacted the chapter that they are now a part of or not. If
they have not already contacted you, then it would be great if you
could make contact with them. What I am really asking is that you
check the list of chapter members on your member web page at least
weekly, and then make the appropriate contact with any new members
that appear. For those chapters that collect dues, you will probably
want to contact them for that purpose anyhow!
Thanks for your help with this. We want everyone to feel welcomed.
On another matter, I do not want to sound like a broken record, but
there are still many chapters that I know for sure are active that
have not submitted their annual report (which was due Jan 31). PLEASE
check and see if this has been done for your chapter. If not, please
do it ASAP. You can easily check this on your member web page.
Directly beneath the spot where chapter officers are shown there is a
box to click to submit the annual report. If it has already been
submitted, there is a note there telling you who did it and when. If
there is not a note there, then you still need to do it.
Just FWIW, the interview that I did at Orlando HamCation apparently
has been very well received, with many members saying they now have a
better idea of what we are doing. It also has resulted in quite a few
new members, which of course is a great bonus.
Along these lines, we are about one third of the way thru the month of
March, but I have processed twice as many applications this month as
the entire month of December, and almost as many as the entire month
of January, and January is considered a good month.
I appreciate all of the work that you are doing at the local level.
It takes all of us working together to make QCWA a success.
Thanks, 73,
Ken, W8EK
