Good Afternoon Everyone,
I told several of you I'd get this information out after Dayton and after
putting it together decided that most chapter officers could benefit from
knowing about them.
These are websites that will help you to locate member and prospect
information.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
For current call signs most of you know you can go to www.qrz.com and enter
a call sign and see the information if the call is valid.
You can also send an email to lookup at qrz.com
put lookup in the subject (not needed at qrz but most mail clients don't
like sending an email without a subject ) and in the body enter:
lookup n0uf
lookup k1igd
up to 10 calls per email.
You'll have a response, usually within minutes that will include in addition
to the call, name and address, call sign changes and an email id if they
listed one at qrz.com.
You can find a few email ids at Buckmaster
http://buck.com/cgi-bin/do_hamcallexe but I find it's seldom worth the
effort to go there.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
For phone numbers, I prefer www.411.com Enter a last name and a city and
unless it's an unpublished number it displays almost right away. It can be
several months behind, new listings don't appear for awhile and old ones are
slow to disappear. It also has a number reverse lookup feature.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
To check out recent (back to 1981) call signs go to www.vanityhq.com and
use the lookup box in the upper left hand corner. It displays current and
past calls and others that have held those calls as well. This is the only
historical online look up I know of. Try it out with my calls to see what I
mean, N0UF, AC0L and WA0CLR
------------------------------------------------------------------------
One last piece of information you should have on application going into
Chuck is the 9 digit Zip Code. Go to http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp
and enter the street address, city and state. The display will show the
post office version of the street address and the 9 digit zip code.
I hope these help, if you know of others, please pass them along.
tnx es 73,
