Dear QCWA Members:

I and several of your fellow QCWA Members, to include a present and past QCWA President, are in need of your assistance:

It has been brought to our attention that Shanthi Perera, 4S7WP, located in Sri Lanka, also licensed as KE5CUN, is no longer able to get on the air due to an HF rig failure. He is unable to repair his old radio. Since so many of our QCWA Members are avid DXers, we have undertaken this Special Project in order to assist Shanthi in getting Sri Lanka, a semi-rare country back on the air.

How can you assist with this project? We are soliciting your generous donation of a used, fully operational, 100 watt class HF transceiver w/operators manual in order to get Shanthi back on the air. Obviously, an original shipping container would also be appreciated.

How do we propose on getting the donated transceiver to 4S7WP? Shanthi has a daughter that lives in the Houston, TX area. During the May/June time frame, Shanthi will be traveling to Houston to visit with his family members. Shanthi, a 78 year old retired ham, does not have the financial resources to travel from Sri Lanka much less purchase a replacement HF transceiver. His travel to Houston is only possible due to financial assistance from his daughter.

Since I live in north Texas, closer to Houston, I am coordinating this effort. Please get in touch with me if you can potentially make an HF transceiver donation for Shanthi. I will be happy to answer any and all questions. Once a transceiver is procured, I will deliver it to Shanthi in Houston during his family visit along with the name/call of the donor.

Special Offer: I have been talking with Shanthi via EchoLink and he has expressed a willingness to speak about ham radio in Sri Lanka at your radio club or QCWA Chapter meeting provided that the meeting time and location is within reasonable distance from Houston during his stay. Please let me know if this would be of interest.

73 es TNX in advance for your generosity.........
