TO ALL QCWA CHAPTERS:
CALL FOR SECTION 97.1 ALL STAR
PRESIDENTIAL HONOR AWARDS

Who was it in your Chapter that you admire as having best fulfilled -
during 2006 - the principles codified in Section 97.1 of the FCC rules for
our amateur service? These five principles establish the type of amateur
service we are expected to provide in return for being allowed to use some
highly valuable radio spectrum. It is now the time to reflect upon those
who among us should receive our five QCWA Presidential Honor Awards. In
your Winter QCWA JOURNAL, there is the call for your Chapter to nominate
QCWA members for these Awards. Your nomination must be received by March
15, 2007.

The awards will be made on April 1, 2007, and will be announced in our
Summer QCWA JOURNAL. They are:

Section 97.1(a). For service to the public as a voluntary noncommercial
communication service, particularly with respect to providing emergency
communications. (Emergency communications preparation? Communications
during a disaster?)

Section 97.1(b). For continuing and extending the amateur operator's proven
ability to contribute to the advancement of the radio art. (Experimenter?)

Section 97.1(c). For advancing skills in both the communication and
technical phases of the radio arts. (Instructor? Upgrading?)

Section 97.1(d). For expanding the existing reservoir within our amateur
service of trained operators, technicians and electronic experts.
(Volunteer Examiner?)

Section 97.1(e). For continuing and extending the amateur operator's unique
ability to enhance international goodwill. (DXer?)

Please submit your nomination to me, Director Carolyn Harrison, WB0OUM,
before March 15, 2007. I am the Chairman of our Chapter Relations Standing
Committee that is administering this program. Send to P.O. Box 467,
Bolivar, MO 65613-0467, carolynwb0oum at alltel.net.

Include the name and call sign of your nominee, the specific award for
which you are making your nomination and a statement of your reasons for
making it.

Here is your opportunity to recognize a deserving QCWA member in your
Chapter for helping make amateur radio the greatest hobby in the World.

Please let me hear from you.
Carolyn Harrison WB0OUM
Director and Chair, Chapter Relations Standing Committee
