It all depends on what your goals are. If I cared to have a 70' tower, I would have 2 antennas - a SteppIR that covered 40 and 30, and would have a vertical for 160 and 80. Oh that would then let me best participate in challenge oriented (max band slot) contests and awards.

But since I decided to give up on anything that requires mega-band slots, and because I don't want any tower bigger than my AB-577 military system, I went with a full sized 3 element mono bander on 20M, phased vert array on 40M, and a KY6R Special on 160/80 that fills in for the other bands, like 30 and 17.

But my goals are very different than others, because I go mountain biking even more than play ham radio these days.

But I really love monoband antennas. Is rather have three mono band antennas on 3 fave bands than a big tall and heavy multibander.

i may want to sell my Step-Ir 3 el with 30/40m loop....have been looking at other lighter antennas with same or similar bands, hopefully lighter and a bit smaller------but,difficult to duplicate the band of the Step-Ir....and I keep coming up with the DB11,which is just as heavy, and the ads say it has 40m..???true??....and the other alternative is KLM...KT34A.......any thoughts?....have looked at most yagis--A3S,Mosley,HyGain,Force12(or whatever it is named now),M2,....keep returning to DB11 & KLM.....the other alternative would be to do a yagi for the usual upper bands, and just do 30/40/80/etc with a vertical.....any comments appreciated......73/DX...tnx...jerry

Well – I exaggerate – not tons – but enough here to make any vertical, yagi, rotatable dipole home brewer very happy.

Pick up only – way too much to list in an email or on the internet.

I’ve settled on three super duper mono band antennas – and have done a full analysis of my small lot – and cannot put anything else up – so I will now give away the excess tubing. There are many parts that include Force-12 boom and bracket material as well as Hy-Gain, KLM and Wilson boom material. Lots of element material too.
