Many milestones in Amateur Radio History will reach their 100th Anniversary over the next few years. QCWA is proud to be a premier Organization that both recognizes and celebrates our Members longevity and their historical contributions to the Radio Arts.
The first successful Trans-Atlantic test was a monumental achievement that not only bred leaps in circuitry and apparatus developments, but quintessentially identified the value of shorter wavelengths once considered worthless; the only reason 600m and down were relegated to lowly ham experimenters in the first place.
Attached is a link to a wonderful film produced by the Antique Wireless Association many years ago describing the 1921 Trans-Atlantic Test. Note the identities of the famous pioneers of the fledgling industry of the time.
This event paved the way for what we do rather easily by comparison today. A great debt is owed to those who came before us, and this historical snapshot will benefit all who take the time to watch it. It has earned my highest recommendation.
