When first licensed as WN9MGS in 1954 I built a Johnson Adventurer 
(twice). I bought a used S40B. With Bob Hale, K9AFP ( my blind Elmer )'s 
design help, I set up a vertical consisting of a pipe sitting on a 
telephone insulator and supported by an insulating clamp at 25 feet. An 
antenna tuner completed the rig.
