I've building a 2x2 switch matrices. It's for use with two
headsets and two radios.
Mainly though, I want to point out probably one of the
best schematic drawing programs I've run across.

And it's FREE. Just download and go.
Even if you have NO desire to make PC boards it's worth
the time to get used to using it just for drawing schematics.
And, even if you have no desire to have prototype or
production boards made, not cheap, it will export the PC
board layout, with all the pads, etc. to AutoCAD so you
can print 1:1 scale drawing to use as drilling template for
roll your own hand wired stuff.
My little project has four schematics. Panel, logic TX and
RX audio. And three PC boards, logic, TX and RX.
Lastly, you can make your own parts for the schematic
and PC board libraries. I had to make 2 and 3 conductor
jacks for my project.
