An update of sorts....

Thanks to a friend that pointed out the obvious to me.
I re-read the data sheet for the MAX4022ESD chip and realized
it _does_ have a pair of 500 ohm resistors internal to each amp.
Removing the external chip resistors and grounding the inverting
input of the amps settled things down to 0 dB of gain rather than
the -4 dB I'd mentioned earlier.

For those of you that downloaded the data sheet, it's on page 8
figure 1a.

Next up is buying some wire and a non-inductive resistor and
making a terminated folded dipole to feed this with.
