I have been reading the recent messages on the subject of qcwa merger with another group and also on the subject of frugality of money and I have remained silent.  I thought the first topic was a disaster but the second was an attempt to get us financially back on track which should be a primary mission.  What bothered me the most was the bickering back and forth among members and the direction some of the comments took; I personally thought the condescending manner of some of the remarks was unnecessary and not befitting the stature of qcwa membership.  As someone once said on the streets of Los Angeles "Why can't we all get along?"

In a more positive light, I would like to offer some of my insight into the QCWA.  I am here primarily because of my late father in law (W2AS), Bill Kennedy, who was a Charter Member #36 of QCWA.  I have enjoyed this association immensely and hope to continue it as long as I can physically hold out.  Most chapters probably don't have enough in their treasury to make any direct contribution to National but perhaps they can assist some of their members in defraying some of the costs of doing business whether it be buying shirts or business cards and other items.  I do feel that we in Chapter 45 are doing our fair share; many of you may not realize that our booths at the Orlando HamCation do not come free--they are billed as "QCWA Booths" but the $600 is paid for by Chapter 45; in addition to that at least 4 of our members will be setting up and tearing down the booths--this has been going on for years; some of us will also be there from Thursday through Sunday.  

I am just asking you to do what you can to help this fine organization and let us rally round our President Ken O. whom I know to be a capable gentleman and well qualified to fill the position he holds.
