When it comes down to "go digital or go broke", then for the sake of the
club, I must adjust and go digital in this need. I have to admit
though that when magazines I have subscribed to in the past have gone
digital and then dropped their print editions I ceased subscribing to
them. Of course that is a different matter than the QCWA club membership.
As for the feeling that we must be involved or be responsible for the
demise of the club (or chapter) --sorry, but that is my take on the
other discussion-- for me this is very difficult since I live in a rural
area and the closest chapter to me is a 2.5 hour drive away in the next
state and there is no one within a reasonable drive of my home that is
remotely interested in an additional chapter nor am I able to spearhead
one. Between property maintenance, livestock, family, church and
volunteer duties my time is very limited. For the time being I have
had to set aside much of my hobby time, ham radio included. While ham
radio has been important to me it must take a back seat to these other
needs.
I have been only able to support the QCWA in promoting it as I meet
people and with my dues since my retirement funds have been greatly
eroding these past five years, expenses increasing and income decreasing
and if times do not improve then my personal website will have to go as
well as I tighten my belt and if/or when the time comes to end my
internet connection as well. We all have hard decisions to make. I
also realize that typically less than 10% of any membership does over
90% of the work... perhaps all of the work these days. Some of us are
just not able to do more than the little we do.
I am thankful to all of you who are willing and able to fill the
positions in club and chapter leadership and are making those hard
decisions in order for the club to continue on.

Ed
