[QCWA] Its a BIRTHDAY PARTY and YOU'RE INVITED

QCWA Chapter 119 will hold its AUGUST meeting at our regular meeting 
place, Frankie's Place for Ribs, 5200 Fairfield Shopping Center, 
Virginia Beach, VA 23464 on Friday, August 17, at 12:00 Noon.

We are having a 100th BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR AMATEUR RADIO, celebrating 
President Taft having signed into law the Radio Act of 1912 on August 
13, 1912.  This marked the beginning of the Licensed Amateur Radio 
Service and required officially assigned CALL SIGNS for continuous wave 
operation above 200 Meters.  There is NO TRUTH to the rumor than any of 
the current Chapter 119 Members were active on the air at the time of 
this signing!

To enhance the occasion, Stu Tyler, WA4JUO, will provide an interesting 
and informative program on Voice of America programming and operations.  
Reservations are suggested, as we want to insure proper seating for 
anyone who plans to drop by for the meeting.  But if you're just passing 
through, please stop by anyway and be sure to get a big hunk of BIRTHDAY 
CAKE!
