It is usual to meet some snide commentators that contribute little
and DO even less in any organization. Many of us FOUGHT to defend the right
of Freedom of Speech. Apparently others did not , forgot it or elected to
deny it to others. I enjoy an interchange of opinion and fact. If I did not,
I would isolate myself for interaction with others ! THIS IS FOR THE BENEFIT
OF W0LPQ.
Bob, I would prefer to discuss this directly but this is the most
accessible forum available to me at this time. The response that" it wasn't
a $41 meal", was interpreted by me as denying that I paid that amount. I
agree, banquets are usually overpriced and often help subsidize the guests
meal expenses.
I am a life member and would like to protect my investment in QCWA.
Standing by and watching $21 THOUSAND lost due to unfilled hotel bookings
is without a doubt beyond reason. When I reserve a block of rooms at a major
hotel , it is for a certain number at a certain price. There is a deadline
date at which time the hotel releases the rooms. Those wishing to attend
must make their reservations directly with the hotel PRIOR to the cutoff
date and indicate they are part of a specific group to receive the
guaranteed price. If 0nly 50% elect to do this, my group loses the
additional reserved block of rooms after the deadline with NO PENALTY
ATTACHED. Meals are booked the same with the sponsoring organization. The
organization has a price and cut off date from the hotel. After that date
additional meals beyond a nominal percentage ( usually 10% ) will incur
additional cost. These are written into binding contracts that are APPROVED
by the person or Group that is responsible for paying the expenses. Was this
done at the 2011 Convention ??
I do not want to be a part of the problem, rather I want to be part
of the SOLUTION.
