I WILL BE HAPPY TO POST A SCANNED COPY OF MY CANCELLED CHECK FOR THE
BANQUET AT $41.00. The check was sent to the General Manager per his
instruction as I did not have a previously paid reservation. The detailed
accounting of QCWA finances during the Convention should clearly verify this
fact.

I have never claimed nor was I ever held liable for any Masonic Convention
shortfall. Perhaps there was a mis-communication on this. I have dealt with
far larger numbers of men and women, arranged programs, speakers and meals
and NEVER encountered anything as unfathomable as the shortfall at the QCWA
Convention. Perhaps it was poor planning or a lack of experience.

At no time did I infer that anyone was reimbursed for a cruise
expense.

In reading your third paragraph,
"Yes the motion to not reimburse board members for part of their convention
expenses passed. This means that every board member is going to need to come
up with an extra $500 to $1,000 to attend a convention. We were already NOT
reimbursed for travel to and from the conventions. The Board has never been
reimbursed for any cruise QCWA has ever sponsored!"

If travel was not being reimbursed, the other costs are reasonably for meals
and rooms- room are generally $100-150 per night with no effort. Meals are
variables and often are limited to the evening banquet with breakfast and
possibly luncheon being each attendees personal responsibility. Perhaps a
limited stipend and a surcharge be added to attendees banquet meal would
help defray some of the officer's meal costs??

The most true statement is ..."How many times can we lose $21K,
ONCE." Individuals that have experience in organizing a banquet, knowing
what parameters must govern the event must be utilized or this scenario will
repeat. The alternative is to eliminate the concept of an Annual Banquet
such as it exists presently.
