Dale G. RidenourDale Ridenour, WN8I, SK
Dale G. Ridenour, 87, of Monroe, OH, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at his
residence. Born to the late George and Emmalene Ridenour on the family
farm near Reily, Ohio. He graduated from Reily High School and Miami
University where he received his B.S. in Education, his M.A. in
Education and Specialist in Education degrees. In all, he garnered 60
years in service to Southwestern Ohio schools as a master educator.
Dale also was instrumental in founding the Monroe Historical Society and
led the then village's sesquicentennial parade in 1967 dressed as Davy
Crockett. He was the regional coordinator for the International
Fellowship. He and xyl Bertha hosted over 20 foreign students for
various periods in their own home. Dale was active providing volunteer
hours at the Ohio Otterbein retirement home in particular in working
with Alzheimer patients. *As his hobby he enjoyed ham radio, call sign
WN8I. He was a member of the Middletown-based Dial Radio Club and helped
with instructing and testing of new hams. For many years he was member
of chapter 9 of the Quarter Century Wireless Association*
Dale was preceded in death by his wife Bertha (2002) and leaves a son,
Neil R (Elda) Ridenour of Colorado Springs, CO, a daughter, Donna J.
(Dallas) Packer of Hudson, OH; four grandchildren, Kevin (Nicky)
Ridenour, Curtis Ridenour, Rachel Ridenour and Daniel Packer. He also
leaves a brother, Carl (Nancy) Ridenour of Sharonville, OH; one niece,
