This years spring QCWA QSO Party is now history, but it gives
us a golden opportunity to help to expand our ranks. I don't
think I need to tell you that we need more members to help keep
QCWA a viable organization. We have a great opportunity, if
you look at your logs from the QSO Party.
A part of the QSO Party exchange included the year first licensed.
It also included the chapter number. If the person did not
indicate a chapter number, but instead indicated a state, that
probably means he is not a QCWA member (although he might be
an "at large" member without a chapter). This means that we
can send an e-mail to everyone who is a potential member.
For the most part, you can find an e-mail address by going to
www.qrz.com and searching on the call sign. Usually an e-mail
address will be listed.
Once you get the e-mail address, you can send him an e-mail
asking him to join QCWA. Below, I have included what I send
to them. You can modify this to suit your needs, or use it
as is.
In any case, I think we need to take the opportunity to try to
recruit some new members.
Thanks for your help. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you very much for the QSO in the QCWA QSO Party
this past weekend.
The date of your first license would indicate that you
are eligible for QCWA membership. To join QCWA you need
to have received your first license at least 25 years ago.
That means if your first license was in 1986 or before
you can join us. You do not need to have been licensed
continuously.
To find our more about QCWA, you can go to
http://qcwa.org/
There you can find out a lot of information about the
organization.
In addition to the QSO Parties, we also have an active
scholarship program, have annual conventions (please see
http://qcwa.org/2011-convention.htm), participate in
many hamfests, and offer a variety of awards.
http://qcwa.org/awards-member.htm
There is also a quarterly magazine called the "QCWA Journal"
that you receive as a part of your membership.
But probably the most important part of QCWA is the local
chapter. We have chapters all over the country (and DX
also). You can find a list of active chapters at
http://qcwa.org/active-chapters.pdf
This also lists contact information. To find out when
some of the chapters have their meetings, you can go to
http://qcwa.org/events-by-chapter.htm
I would like to invite you to join our organization.
You can find details on how to join at
http://qcwa.org/how-to-join.php
and a membership application at
http://qcwa.org/membership-application-form-us.pdf
Won't you please join us?
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks.
