Greetings from QCWA.

Since some of the activities in the Kentucky and Tennessee
area are less than a week away, I wanted to bring you up to
date with what is probably the final plans. I would encourage
you to participate in any that you can, but also to pass the
word along to other QCWA members, and even more important, to
hams that should be QCWA members, but have not yet joined.
One of the purposes is to attract new members, so anything
you can do to spread the word is appreciated.

We will be attending several hamfests, and will be having QCWA
display tables at all and forums at most of them. We will also
be at some meetings. If you attend the hamfest, we would
appreciate your coming to the QCWA table and signing in and
saying hello. We would also like for you to attend the QCWA
Forum, and of course any meeting that are near to you.

I will list these events in chronological order.

The first hamfest will be the Central Kentucky Hamfest in
Richmond, KY on Saturday, September 18. In addition to the
display table, we will also have a forum at 10 AM.
For information on this hamfest, please see
http://www.qsl.net/ckars/hamfest
or contact Mike at
ke4isw at arrl.net
Members from Chapter 214 will be attending and setting up a
table at this hamfest. Sue and I will be assisting them, and
I will have a forum at 10 AM.

On Monday, September 20, we will be at the meeting of the
Eastern Tennessee DX Club in Knoxville. This is not a QCWA
organization, per se, but they often meet together. So it
is "sort of" a meeting of QCWA Chapter 60. I will be talking
about QCWA. Dave K4YRK is in charge.
This event starts at 6:00 PM at
Calhoun's Bearden
6515 Kingston Pike
Knoxville, TN 37919
www.calhouns.com

On Tuesday, September 21, we will be at the Johnson City Amateur
Radio Association. This is a "regular" amateur radio club.
They will be having their annual picnic at 6:00 PM at Rotary
Park in Johnson City. This is in the area of QCWA Chapter 182.
It will not be an official QCWA meeting but any QCWA members
are welcome, and some are members of the club already. I will
be twisting some arms to get some of their club members to join
QCWA if they are eligible.

At the present time, we do not have any meeting set up for the
Nashville Chapter 105. That meeting may happen on the next trip
to Tennessee in October.

The next weekend, on Friday and Saturday, September 24-25, we will
be at the TenTec Hamfest in Sevierville, TN. We will have a
display table, but this hamfest does not have forums.
For details on this hamfest, please go to
http://www.tentec.com/?s=hamfest

About a month later, we will take another trip from Florida,
back to Tennessee.

We will have a display table and also a forum at the "Gray Hamfest"
that is currently held in Johnson City, TN on October 16. Details
are at
http://grayhamfesttn.com
or you can contact
k4cwa at arrl.net

We hope to have a meeting of Nashville QCWA Chapter 105 sometime
between October 18 and October 20.

We are planning a tentative meeting of Chapter 115 in Chattanooga
for October 21. This is still in the planning stages. Contact
Charlie, AD4F, for more details.

The next weekend we will be at the Chattanooga TN hamfest on
October 23.
Their web site is
http://w4am.org
or you can contact Jim at
w4dfs at arrl.net

If anyone knows of any chapter meetings in the week
between these hamfests, or any other ham activities, please
let me know. We will be traveling in our 19 foot Roadtrek
motor home, so can move around easily.

I hope to see many of you at some of these activities. Don't
forget to come by the booth, sign in, and attend the forums.
Also please attend the meetings if you can.

Please pass this information along to any other QCWA members,
or prospective members.

Thanks.

73,

Ken, W8EK
