I thought this was a pretty neat challenge, so a hunt for the answer was on.
I received the following note from fellow QCWA member Bill Pasternak,
WA6ITF. An old friend, Bill is the editor of Amateur Radio Newsline
and has produced a number of film/videos promoting amateur radio.

Bill's comment:

Very simple: Nice bit of CGI but its obvious CGI. [CGI - Computer
Generated Image - pk]

Look at the angle of the shadow of the man walking ahead of the
"early cellphone adopter" and the zebra statue. They are the
same. The shadow of the cellphone user is at a totally different
angle indicating it was shot -- likely blue screen -- from a light
source at a different position relative to the camera and
talent. Fun to watch, but Ive seen far better over the years sitting
in edit suites.

Heres more of the magic that can be created in an edit suite bringing
the late Nat King Cole back from the grave to sing a duet with his
daughter Natilie. Keep in mind that Nat King Cole died in 1965 and
this duet was done electronically in 2007. You see the two together
at abut 3:14 into the clip.

I used to know who actually edited it, but at the moment his name
slips my mind. As I recall, it was done at The Post Group here in LA.
