It is with regret that I notify you of the death of Jim
McKeever, WD4DPA. Jim was a long time member of Chapter 62
in Ocala, FL. Actually, he had been a long time member before
I ever arrived in Florida. He was Treasurer of Chapter 62 for
more years than I would care to count.

Jim, thanks for your service to QCWA and to ham radio.

Here is Jim's obit notice:

OCHLAWAHA, Fla. - James Joseph McKeever, 90, a 35-year resident
Ocklawaha, Fla., went quietly home to heaven on Nov. 28, 2010, while
under the loving care of his family.

A devoted husband and father of eight, he was the son of James A. and
Louise (Dargan) McKeever of Randolph, N.Y.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Frances
Merribel (Hitchiner) McKeever; sons: Dennis McKeever (Sharon) of
Leesburg, Richard McKeever (Ruth) of Ocklawaha, John McKeever of White
Sulphur Springs, W.Va., and Michael McKeever (Roseann) of Stuart, Fla.
and daughters: Merri-Lou McKeever (Les Medall) of Rochester, N.Y., and
Suzanne Fisher (Dave) of Ocoee, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas of Albuquerque, N.M.;
daughter, Patricia; and his brother, Gerald McKeever of Gowanda, N.Y.
He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grands and
great-greats; as well as loving friends too many to mention,
especially their lifelong fellow adventurers and best friends, Maxine
and Ken Peterson.

A devoutly spiritual man, he was one of the founders of both Our Lady
of Victory Catholic church in Frewsburg, and St. Joseph of the Forest
in Silver Springs. He was a 38-year employee of the U.S. Post Office
in Jamestown, N.Y., where he was a supervisor for 20 years. After
moving to Florida from Frewsburg, N.Y., he spent many years as a Meal
on Wheels volunteer. He was a World War II veteran and an avid ham
radio operator for decades. A message to them: QCWA member, wd4dpa, is
now a "silent key." The world has lost a very kind and generous gentle
man who was much loved and is missed dearly already.

Online condolences may be sent to www.hiers-baxley.com
<http://www.hiers-baxley.com/>.

Arrangements under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Belleview.

Thanks.

73,

Ken, W8EK
