[QCWA] Membership Discussion

Hi Harvey,

Of course you may express your opinion! It is highly valued, as is everyone
else's.

There is no doubt some truth to what you say. Other comments have referred to
this generation not wanting to join anything, or that the baby boomer bulge has
past. True, and this may explain why we don't have 70K members instead of <7K.

As well, there are more choices out there as far as ham radio groups to join,
and some of the new ones are "free". That puts the onus on us to keep costs
down.

However, it appears that we don't seem to have too much trouble in attracting
new members. Chuck told me that HQ "still processes about 30 new members a
month but it's the loss of renewals that is most troubling."

And so, the problem seems to be in RETAINING them.

Apparently, we do have a good influx; it's the "outflux" needs to be stemmed.
Can we make it so that they don't want to leave?

I certainly don't have all the answers, but, collectively, maybe we do. It is
really enjoyable to see such good participation in this discussion so far; it's
been quite informative. That's what this reflector is all about; the sharing of
ideas and solutions.

Cheers,

Dave Hayes VE3JX
