Dave.....
As a four term president of a local chapter (Dallas-41), I feel that you have a quite plausible plan IF only our national leaders will consider it and then ACT on it in a positive manner. Pass this on to Val Ervin, W5PUT, who is a go getter and a member of the national board of directors.
Also, I get a lot of flack from some of the members when I suggest that QCWA seems (to me) to be declining and that it really needs to foster the idea of reducing or eliminating the "rule of 25" which flies in the face of tradition.
Tradition aside, I contend that (in part) the loss of membership is due to attrition and we are not opening our organization to newer and younger hams.
Keep this up and QCWA will see further attrition with no new and enthusiastic members entering.
Assuming that a new ham may be as young as 15, add the "rule of 25", then you have a 40 year old, one who has been "snubbed" for 25 years.
Now, at 40, he resents being "snubbed" and has little enthusiasm to become a member.
Still, there are some "old sticks in the mud" who would refuse to even consider or reconsider tradition.
I know I'll be castigated for my thoughts, but that is my opinion and I'm sticking with it.
Steve, K5ZYZ
