BOB:
This is my message exchange with Arneye, Bill McCafferty's daughter,
and also a copy of today's email to Bill himself - no response yet - -
You will recall she sent this to QCWA in January when Bill (W7UZB)
was an injured pedestrian and was severely clobbered, requiring some
surgeries and months of rehab. I think the original accident was posted
on the reflector, and this update might well bring his buddies up to date.....

He's home. Doing physical therapy for his leg. He is partially weight bearing (meaning he is in and out of the wheelchair and using a walker) and will be totally cleared to walk next week. He's been free of the neck brace a couple of weeks now (and very happy about that). Looks like he will be 100% really soon.

Feel free to email him at w7uzb at aol.com

An update to put on the QCWA reflector would be
welcome. in HamTalk, tnx es 73, de W8RSH Tony
SO THEN I WROTE TO BILL:
Hi, Bill -
I don't know how much QCWA email you've received, but
as I told Arneye, there are many QCWA fellers concerned
about yer health and temperment. Arneye's response to my
request for an update was almost instantaneous and tells us
of good progress, though she mentions that yer still under
house arrest, expecting release to walk next week. Dunno if
you've returned to hammin', and with propagation so bad I
doubt if 20M QSO is possible. Winter icestorm wiped out
my low-band HF dipoles (all 3 of 'em) and we're all waiting
for Mr Sun to start spotting again. Our annual members'
meeting has been moved to coincide with the Dayton Hamfest
which we think will increase attendance, and mebbe even get
us some new members. (May 15,16,17)

Hope you noticed my advice in an earlier email that the KY
Jelly was not for your toast.......73, gladjer gittin better......T.

a copy of my email early in your calamity, from 1/20/09
TO: Mr. William McCafferty, W7UZB

Providence Medical Center

Bill:
QCWA President Bob Roske, N0UF, has put your daughter's message
on the QCWA reflector for internet distribution. Her message included
the hospital email address, so I, a member of the QCWA Board of
Directors, wanted to transmit to you that we are all concerned about
your attempt to damage that car. But, how fortuitous, as your attempt
was carefully located in a crosswalk, allowing you to shift the blame
for your cavalier attack. And, as good luck seems to follow you, the
leg and neck injuries won't affect your cw QSOs. Her email also said
that you suffered a head laceration, but several Board members said that
your most invulnerable extremity was your head (hard, some said)
Now, if you just take the proper time to heal, we are all certain that
you will be back soon to QRM most of the bands..... (If propagation
ever improves) On a serious note, please remember that the KY Jelly
is not for your toast. Get well, OM...73 de W8RSH - Tony Hirsch K
