[QCWA] From the QCWA Guestbook

Hi Norm,

Glad you enjoyed the trip down memory lane.

I never had the pleasure of a qso with Clarence. He did however, have an
influence on a portion of the QCWA website. When he became a Silent Key I
realized, "QCWA still has LIVING Charter Members" and other members as well
who have a story to tell and when they are gone, so is that story and the
history of this great hobby. Until that time we only had the SK pages which
could be very difficult to pull together after the fact. Some had lots of
info on the web; some didn't even have a picture and most obituaries usually
don't include much about amateur radio.

It was then that I kicked off the "Our Living Heritage" area. I had two
main reasons for starting the effort. First, I thought it would be nice to
honor these members while they were still around to see and enjoy it. The
second, a bio from them would include more detail and interest that anyone
else was capable of providing.

My goal is to have a page for every QCWA member. I also try to get a
picture and description of their rig for the QCWA On-line Museum. I know, a
Yeasu FT-857d isn't an antique, but it will be in 75 years and it's much
easier to get the data now than to try and collect it then.

Unfortunately the response to two Journal articles and a posting to the
reflectors has achieved less than stellar results. While we have 237 SK
listings we only have 57 listings in the heritage section.

73,
Bob, NØUF
Webmaster, QCWA
