[QCWA] re to Quarter Century or Not

I am not sure why we even discuss a name change or a membership requirement
change.

QCWA started to recognize those Amateurs who had been licensed for 25 years
(and there is a club for those licensed for 50 years). EVERY radio club is
available to those merely licensed. The only thing most of us get out of
membership in QCWA is a good quarterly magazine. The FCC column by John
Johnston alone is worth the fee for membership.

There is no reason why the local chapter can't invite ANYONE they want to
meetings. Not licensed yet, just licensed, WHO CARES. Don't ask, just do
it. We frequently have more NON QCWA Members than members. Members like
to receive their 50 year certificates and others! They like the recognition.
They like to be around like minded friends. They may have more in common
with OTHER hams licensed back when there was a real license exam. Back when
you could still buy an HT-9 or a BC-610 or an HQ-129-X for $129.00. Back
when 10 meters was open all day an you could rag chew daily with Lowell
Thomas, AC4YN and AC4RF were on the air daily. And that USED TO BE TIBET!

Old timers are different than kids and understand each others tall tales
better.

There is no harm in talking about anything, but I don't think there is much
desire to change the name nor entry requirement.
