Hi Skip,

I found your ideas very interesting, though I may not agree with all of
them.

First, the couple you spoke of: Would it not be better for them to scrape
together $67 and benefit from the 3-year family rate? That works out to be
$22.33 for BOTH of them per year. Add the chapter dues of $10 you spoke
about equals $32.33 for both chapter & national membership per year per
couple. I think that is quite a bargain.

e-Journal: not a bad idea. However, my concern would be whether it would
undermine the paper version. I like the idea, particularly for DX members,
where the postage kills its widespread distribution. However, I also like
the paper version; I can leave it on my night table and read it before
nodding off, for example.

Quality of Journal: It's always necessary to continuously examine this.
Notwithstanding, it is up to us to contribute worthwhile articles for
publication. The Journal is as good as we make it, I would think.

Thanks Skip. Have a great weekend.

Cheers,

Dave VE3JX

Back to the “Boys and Girls for Z Bucks!”

“But QCWA is defined as QUARTER CENTURY...THAT is what
We are...that is what makes us different...What we do within..... with
those members who qualify is 100% within our control....Again I will
say...there is a METRIC BUTT TON of hams that qualify for QCWA....
How will the new regime target them???”

Jose - N1BAA

I wanted to support Jose, N1BAA, and his fine comments so far in attempting
to gain Elmering, and recruiting QCWA membership. One of the concerns I’ve
run into is, that a couple wanted to return, but it would cost them $50.00
for National dues, 10.00 for chapter dues, and for the grand total of $60.00
dollars a year – all they would get is ONE journal which neither of them
CARED to READ!  So we back to the old square one, the cost and the journal;
some like it hot and some like it cold – so to speak. I’m not trying to
offend anyone, but reality is going to have to set in some where and take a
stand to save QCWA:

1:	We need a Family plan for couple who are eligible to join at
        a reduced rate.
2:	We to offer an “E-journal” to those willing to read it on the
QCWA website, thus reduce publishing and mailing costs.
3:	We should adopt the old $300.00 life membership plan for those
	willing to accept the “E-journal.”
4:	We should create an “Associate Membership” program, with half
the yearly dues, access to the “E-journal”, and allow them to
wear, and advertise QCWA “stuff.” They should be allowed to
be active in our functions, but not allowed to vote.
5:`	I would strongly suggest we relook at the quality of the
journal and compare it to some of the other “marketable
caliber and quality journals”, only until QCWA can regain its’
membership and financial stability deemed comfortable by the
board and membership. This is only a short term option and
        not a long term plan.
6:	Create a “Life membership” store – with jackets, rings,
watches, and other mementos available only to life members.
There is much more to this concept, I just don’t have time and
space to devote to it right now.

So in closing there is so much that could be done to help save QCWA, and we
can do it as a team. We all have ideas and thoughts; so as the radio
sponsor once said, “Mail in your cash, checks, money orders, and food stamps
folks!” - It’s all good!”
