[QCWA] Quarter Century or Not??

OK... now I will chime in.
I have seen ham radio change greatly over the past 31 years as we run
full tilt into the future. Although I am rather sporadic in my on-air
time in ham radio I have kept active in homebrew and kit building
equipment and antennas as well as promoting and in being an Elmer to
others and where I was able, I have served on VEC teams.
Although it saddened me to see the FCC reduce and then drop the code
requirement and subsequently eliminate the "Novice" CW portion of the
bands, I really don't care whether a person devotes all their time to
one aspect of hamming. It is their choice.
If folks want a non QCWA then let them create it... do not join QCWA and
then change it into something it is not.
I hear the arguments about the needed youth. They need good role
models, not a quick and easy, no one left behind, way to fulfill their
perceived desires. Nothing easily obtained is of any great value.
"Stick in the mud"... no. Just wanting there to be some standards,
some goals left to reach for.
I, like Bob, looked forward to reaching 25 years as a licensed ham so
that I could join QCWA. If that requirement changes to less than the
Quarter Century mark then I no longer desire to be a member.
