I learned from Dick Rice, a friend of Chuck's at Goodwin House in
Alexandria, Virginia, that Chuck passed away on 26 Jul 2008. He had
been in intensive care for many months. He was 101 years old.

Goodwin House is where Chuck and his wife were residents for many
years. She died about 10 years ago. It was there in Feb 2002 that John
Johnston, W3BE, presented Chuck with his 80 year award from QCWA. See
story and photos here:

Shortly after that, I spend an afternoon with him as he recalled tales
from his life in ham radio and his adventures during WWII. Those
stories were later published on p.4 and 5 of the QCWA Journal, Fall
2002.
  Some highlights:
  - Chuck was licensed as 2QCW in 1921
  - was W1BCQ while living in Winchester MA
  - was KG6HW on Guam
  - was W4MUJ in Charleston while working at the shipyard
  - became W4HE when working at the Pentagon
  - Ethel Smith, K4LMB, worked for Chuck in Naval Intelligence

Dick Rice said he'd pass along information on service/memorial plans
when they become available.

73, Dick Rucker, KM4ML
