[QCWA] landline morse question

Hi everyone,

I received a call this afternoon from a writer who is working on a 
screenplay that involves a scene with landline telegraph. He wants to 
realistically portray a telegraph office of the 40's--specifically, 
how a telegrapher would have interrupted a sender's incoming message. 
(I'm guessing that they probably did not have break-in; nor would they 
have sent QRX ;-)).

I explained to him that I'm too new to telegraphy (I've been doing it 
for only 37 years ;-)) to have known or used American Morse. At least, 
he now knows that there is a difference between American and 
International Morse.

Would anyone be willing to contact him and answer a few of his questions?
