Thank you, Croft, for taking time to respond to my 27 Mar 2007 post regarding the continuing Journal errors on the SK page.
I am try to discover why you assumed that I was referring to any page of the Winter 2006 issue.
Perhaps you noticed that I mentioned the Spring 2007 issue continues the numerous errors that go back to at least the Spring 2005 issue.

Dear John,
Thank you for your critique on the matter of the Silent Key Problem.
I would like to apprise you however of the mechanism of entry into this column. Before QCWA considers publishing a Silent Key notice, they have to rely upon one of two things: (1) a copy of the death notice from the SK's home Chapter, or (2) in the case of a member not belonging to a QCWA
Chapter, a copy of the death notice from a family member or close friend.
I am assuming that your message was referring to the notice at the bottom of page 64 in the Winter Journal, which clearly states that erroneous information was received from one of these sources.
It would be ludicrous to think that the proof reading process could identify the accuracy of such information without telephoning the relatives of the total SK listings - an impossible task. Proof
reading can identify only the format and spelling of that particular column. QCWA HQ has for the past several decades, reminded all our Chapters to ensure the accuracy of such submissions. I therefore don't believe anything more can be done in this area.
Respectfully,
73, Croft Taylor, VE3CT
QCWA Past President

As a member, I'm quite disappointed to see the several types of errors on the Silent Key page continue issue after issue.
The GM, the Editor, and the two proofreaders on the Publications Committee had been privately apprised of this deficiency on 08 January 2007. Regardless, the errors continue, just as before. Apparently, there is little interest on the part of these four in the accuracy of this page.
The Spring 2007 issue marks two complete years of a continuation of various errors on this page. Since the Spring 2005 issue there have been one or more errors on the Silent Key page, or an
apology, in each issue. These four people have had each and every error identified for them by the issue and page on which it appeared.
We really deserve much better.
Anyone who wishes to do so has my permission to copy the text above and forward it to any Officer or BOD member, or all of them, with the lead notation, "I AM NOT IMPRESSED."
