What I wrote was not a horror story of Monmouth. It was the story of the Army in ww2. If you got drafted at that time and they were forming a new division at the time, in you went no matter your skills. They wanted infantry and there you were. I didn't conclude my original story. After all the schooling in radio I had I got caught in a motor messenger outfit along with a couple of my radio buddies. You know what. We never saw a radio again. They did plenty of faking records and got this outfit going overseas. I was in England then France, holland, Belguim and then Germany. Was in Bastongue the day the bulge started but lucky I was then on the way back to Spa, Belguim which was 1st army headquarters. Can't complain as we were classified combat troops and they didnt put us on the line. Best thing the army ever did tho was have the quartermaster corp come up with portable showers. They took guys off the line gave them showers and clean dry clothes.
I'm still around so I can't complain.
