Man hit after pulling over to use cell phone

Even drivers who pull over to use their cell phones run the risk of getting 
into an accident.

According to the State Patrol, on Nov. 1, a Columbia Heights man pulled onto 
the shoulder on State Highway 7, near Falcon Avenue east of Silver Lake, to 
use a cell phone.

After completing his call, Adam Kaufman, 29, pulled his 2001 Mistubishi 
Mirage back into traffic. He was sideswiped by a 1993 Saturn SL2, driven by 
Barbara Disbrow, 42,of Winsted.

Kaufman was not injured. Disbrow and her two passengers were taken to 
Glencoe Hospital for minor injuries The State Patrol responded to the crash 
at 9:15 a.m.
