April 8, 2006 Tour: Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum, Baltimore, MD:

"We last visited the B&O museum in October 2001, just sixteen months
before the weight of heavy snow collapsed the roof of the museum's
centerpiece: the spacious, sun-lit roundhouse...

"The story of the building of the B&O's Main Line between Baltimore
MD and Harper's Ferry WV, the later building of a branch into
Washington DC with extensions into Georgetown and Alexandria VA, and
the yet-later building of the Metropolitan ("Met") Branch between
Washington and Point-of-Rocks in Maryland and paralleling the old
main line...

"The evolution of the B&O can be imagined using the route map
published for today's MARC System...

In the archives:
--------------------
At the request of the B&O museum, I removed all photos that included
Harry Wilgar who was our tour guide during our first tour of the
museum in October 2001. The reason is that Harry is no longer a
volunteer for the museum, and they were unable to obtain his
permission for their inclusion. They sent me replacement images for
two photos: The First Stone and the C&O's huge Allegheny 2-6-6-6
engine #1604.
