You have great senses then, Harvey, as visual stimuli are reportedly
processed more slowly than audible stimuli.  Apparently, we are more attuned
to react to hearing something than seeing it, probably because of the
greater amount of information vision presents us with, and little ability to
subconciously filter it in any way.  Since the exchange got me interested
because of previous studies in this field, I did a search and found a really
interesting article on how this changes as you get older:

    I had just the opposite experience in the Navy. I could copy blinker
light about as fast as I could tone CW, beat the signalman first class every
time! Never could master semaphore, though.
