[QCWA] Journal expense

Hello Norm......very good point, more paid advertising is the key. Yes we
probally produce an electronic version of the Journal, but I think we will
be giving up a lot. The solution is more paid advertising from any number
of resources that are available. I would think that amateur radio mfg.
companies would like to hit our circulation every issue or at least twice a
year. One consideration, here regarding advertisers is the frequency of
our publication, we only publish four times per year. If we were, lets
say, every two months, I think we could attract more advertising. Also, we
might consider adding member ads for equipment etc., for nominal cost, but
still covering the expense. I'm not certain what the budget is, but there
are only so many answers to balancing the accounts. One was already
approved, higher dues. This I feel can be effective, but certainly will
not cure the budget woe. We need to see advertising (paid), to really get
a positive cash flow for the Journal. I hope we would consider the
following : 1. Leave the dues increase in place, but put a 5 year hold on
any increases. 2. Explore the option of an electronic Journal, and make
that an option for our membership. 3. Consider going to a bi-monthly
publication, and sell the advertising with that increased exposure. 4.
Increase member adds, etc at paid cost in the Journal. I hope we could
consider some of the options, I've done this before, with another
organization, and in the final analysis Paid Advertising with an increased
volume circulation was the answer over a 24 month time frame. Hope you had
a great Holiday, and a Happy New year.. 73 Matt AA8P
