[QCWA] FCC Drops Morse

The FCC Report and Order should be no surprise to anyone. The FCC is a
government bureau with no particular interest in the promotion and welfare
of amateur radio.

It’s my opinion that, if we wish to see CW continue as a strong part of
amateur radio then it’s important to promote continued CW activities through
our national organizations like QCWA and the ARRL. Support of CW activities
like SKN, CW SS, etc. will insure a continued interest in the mode among new
licensees.

I think it’s also important that we encourage manufacturers to continue to
include CW capability on new equipment.

I doubt that CW will ever completely disappear from the amateur bands. I do
think that we can make sure it continues to be a larger part of amateur
radio by establishing a culture that promotes CW through organized
activities.
