[QCWA] Gene Nailon K5DLE, Update

Hello radio friends of Gene Nailon, K5DLE.
 
I talked with DeLana, Gene's daughter, a few minutes ago so that I 
could give you the latest information.  The biggest change is that he 
is no longer under the heavy sedation but he is still a very sick man.
To communicate Gene writes notes to his daughter and hospital staff 
because it is difficult to talk because of the ventilator.  Some of 
you know about that from personal experience.  Jim, W5AI, took a key 
and oscillator and left it in Gene's room so hams could talk with 
him.  Yesterday Ron, W5CFN, and Norm, W5FLO, went by when Gene's 
daughter was there and  she thought he enjoyed a short chat on CW.  (I 
am sure that he could send code in his sleep.  Hi, Hi.)
 
All of us who visit need to remember that the Critical Care Unit 
requests  two visitors at a time and the times 8 to 9a.m.; 11:30a.m. 
to 1:p.m.; 4:30 to 5:30p.m.; 7 to 9p.m.  All patients in the CCU are 
very sick.
 
Please continue to pray and now we can add thanksgiving for some 
apparent improvement in Gene even if it is small.  DeLana has two 
children and a sick father to care for, and Gene has a business at the 
airport which will be a concern for DeLana so keep her in mind.
I have heard from a number of you that you appreciate the "updates" .  
I am glad to be of help; it is important that we care for each other.
