I don't know about that.  My dad was in a B-17F that ditched in the Gulf
of Mexico off the coast of Mississippi and was in two B-17G's that
ditched in the English Channel.  If he drowned, he never told me about
it :-)


Actually he bailed out of the B-17F in the gulf before it ditched, but
he said he'd never bail out of anything again after that.  They told him
to count to 10 and pull the ripcord. He must count awfully slow as he
hit the water only a couple of seconds after he pulled the cord.
Witnesses said they thought he'd never come back up.  Hmmm...  Maybe
that's why I am slow at math??
