Forwarded for W3BE. 73 Bob N0UF
TO ALL QCWA CHAPTERS
In your Spring Journal, there is a call for our Chapters to nominate QCWA members for our Presidential Honor Awards for 2004.
On January 31, 1951, our FCC placed into our rules a statement of the five principles establishing the type of amateur service it expects us to provide in return for being allowed to use some highly valuable radio spectrum.
It is important that we pause periodically to reflect upon just whom it is among us that we admire as our role models in helping to fulfill each of these principles. The awards will be made on July 1, 2005, and will be announced in our Fall QCWA JOURNAL. They are:
1. For service to the public as a voluntary noncommercial communication service, particularly with respect to providing emergency communications. (Disaster work?)
2. For continuing and extending the amateur operator's proven ability to contribute to the advancement of the radio art. (Experimenter?)
3. For advancing skills in both the communication and technical phases of the radio arts. (Instructor?)
4. For expanding the existing reservoir within our amateur service of trained operators, technicians and electronic experts. (Volunteer Examiner?)
5. For continuing and extending the amateur operator's unique ability to enhance international goodwill. (DXer?)
Please submit your nomination to Director Harold Chase, W1EES, before June 1, 2005. He is the Chairman of our Chapter Relations Standing Committee that is administering this program. Send to 75 Chestnut Circle, W. Suffield, CT 06093-2100.
Include the name and call sign of your nominee, the specific award for which you are making your nomination and a statement of your reasons for making it.
Here is your opportunity to recognize a deserving QCWA member in your Chapter for helping make amateur radio the greatest hobby in the World.
Please let Harold hear from you.
John B. Johnston W3BE
President, QCWA
