June 11, 2005: Tour of XM Satellite Radio's Programming Center, 
Washington DC; some lead-ins follow:

"Marlin Taylor, Program Director for XM Satellite Radio, was our host 
and tour guide of their facility, which is located in a 5 year old 
brick building in northeast Washington DC near the intersection of New 
York and Florida Avenues...

"Bob Carpenter, W3OTC, a ham since 1948, was involved in the planning 
of XM's system, and Marlin had invited him to brief us on the technical 
aspects, including some comparisons of the XM design with that of 
Sirius Satellite Radio, XM's competitor in the business...

"Later, Marlin led us through a few of their 82 studios in this 
building used to create both live broadcasts and recorded programs for 
later broadcast...
