[QCWA] QCWA Digest, Vol 12, Issue 5

I would like to second W5SBU's comments regarding the use of the word
anchor. This was the first time in my fifty years I heard the term used to
describe the "net control station" or the "net control." Deep six the
anchor!

After 47 years on the air this is the first time I have seen the term
"anchor" used in place of "net control station" which I would prefer as a
traditional amateur radio historical term. Why would we copycat broadcaster
terminology into amateur radio, particularly when it comes to history
oriented situations? My preference would be to not only preserve the
boatanchor radios but also the relevant language usage.

RIK.....yes.....NCS is the correct terminology......no such term as anchor
in the communications community.
a "real" handle among commercial operators would be their personal "sine"
which would be used in log keeping and to identify the operator.

Subject: QSO Party
This party was most enjoyable with its increased activity......a pleasure to
see so much interest......first time in years that I made contacts on 80 and
40 on Saturday evening...
I created my own log forms using Word and was able to forward as an
attachment.....a great help.
I would suggest that we get one of the free logging programs to add our
event....I note that the N1MM Logger had all the state QSO parties and
others included...http://www.sk3bg.se/contest/softn1mm.htm
W2MM also deserves a hand for being so active this time.

Good idea for the logging program. Hope that can be arranged. I worked 20
Saturday afternoon and 40 Saturday evening. The RTTY contest QRM was
unbelievable on 40 at this QTH. Had some fun anyway.

Troy....yes....RTTY qrm was very heavy on 40 here.......we could move the
starting frequency on 40 down lower to avoid them.....I only worked a few on
40 for that reason. 80 was much better..

Norm, that might help although the rtty guys might do the same. Also, maybe
suggest that we all spread out a little more. It seemed like nearly
