Thanks for reminding me about the original words for Taps.  It certainly
brought back memories.  I remember learing it in elementary school, during
WW2, when my older brothers were overseas.  Bob is right about the echo
being haunting, when played at funerals.  My son played trumpet in high
school and was often either the 1st trumpet or the echo.  Today my
granddaughter, a Navy Master at Arms, is rehearsing for Memorial Day
ceremonies.
