Hi folks......

Got off the QCWA 20 meter net a few hours ago (14,347 USB)

where I made a short report on the Spring QSO party, so

thought I would pass the report along to you.

The logs for the QSO party for the last few years have been checked

by Dick Newsome -W0HXL Due to eye problems Dick found he would

be unable to check the logs this year. As we had already sent out

the QSO Party rules to QST, CQ, World Radio and TCA (The

Canadian Amateur) as well as being almost up to the deadline for the

Journal we asked Jim if he would be a forwarding point for this

years Spring Logs. He agreed - Thanks heaps Dick !

Dicks boots had to be filled. When I first became a QCWA Director I had met

a fellow Director -Bob Buus of Chapter 138 up in New Jersey. Bob and I had

kept in touch over the years and his Chapter (The Marconi Chapter) has been

quite active . I asked Bob if his Chapter (he is Secretary) would

take on the tellers job. He came back with the good news that Dick could

forward the Spring logs to him and they would do the Job. So the rules for the

Fall QSO Party (18 September) will show Bob Buus W2OD at 8 Donner Street,

Holmdel NJ 07733-USA as the place to send your Fall QSO Party logs. Thanks

Bob and Chapter # 138.

One other hitch..... Chapter 70 in Ottawa Canada had been planning to operate

QCWA Headquarters Station W2MM in conjunction with their 2004 QCWA

Convention planning. We found out that US Amateur Radio Station calls

cannot be operated in Canada unless the individual holding the licence

is operating the station. Our General Manager Jim Walsh really wasn't

interested in visiting Canada in April, so

some more frantic phoning ! As extra points are

awarded during the contest for working W2MM it really should be on

the air. Alan Brenner -W4ARM was the high scorer in the 2003 QSO

Parties and looked like a great candidate for operating W2MM When

approached he agreed and made 200 contacts as W2MM. If you worked

him you can get a W2MM QSL card by sending your card to our new

QCWA Headquarters at P O Box 3247, Farmingham, MA

01705-3247.......Thanks Alan !

Would any Chapter like to operate as W2MM in the Fall

Party ? It is better to have two or more stations operating

simultaneously to cover all the bands. Contact me.

As soon as Bob and Chapter 138 has scored the logs we will be

sending out the certificates : 3 for the top 3 scores in each of the

Categories - 1- Digital (includes CW) 2 - Phone and 3- Mixed, as well

as for the top score in each category for other participating countries.

Scores will appear on the website at www.qcwa.org and in the Journal.

Logs are due 30 days after the contest........ Logs for even a few QSO's

are appreciated...

Cheers....... George -VE3BNO....Activities Manager.
