Don't feel bad, Bob--I send my app and $ on 12/?/ 2003.  Got a card from Ch 63 effective 1/1/04.  Sometime in Jan, got a winter/fall issue of the journal.  Last week I finally got my card and certificate back dated to 1/7/04.  However the check cleared in Jan.  Are we having fun or what??
