A light at the end of the BPL Tunnel?

I received this from another reflector but thought you would like to
read it. 73 N0UF, Bob

I had the opportunity to play golf in a charity event with the CEO of
Minnesota Power last week. I know the guy pretty well, but hadn't had
the opportunity to get his feeling on BPL. He came up the line through
the engineering department, so knew that he would be pretty well
informed.

I was really pleased to hear that MP has done their homework and is
presently not planning on investing anymore of their (our) resources on
implementing BPL. They are aware of the potential for harmfull
interference (in both directions), but their real reason for putting it
aside is the abosolute best for us! It just doesn't work out econmically
except in very densely occupied areas and they recognize that there are
better options.

Granted MP is no Excel Engergy, but they are a pretty good sized Ute and
cover a significant portion of northern Minnesota. I also suspect that
many other mid-sized Utilities will come up with the same bottom line.

A good sign that I wanted to pass along.
